Maturation Experience

A fundamental question in developmental psychology is the influence of nature (maturational processes) and the environment (surroundings, experiences) on a child's development. Premature infants are separated from their familiar environment in the womb earlier than full-term infants. This exposes them to new stimuli and challenges earlier. There is still limited understanding of the impact of premature birth and the extended time in the extrauterine environment on social-emotional, cognitive, motor, and language development. In addition, only few studies have examined the factors that influence social-emotional development in preterm and full-term infants. By participating in this study, you will help us to answer these questions.
This is an online study. If you would like to participate, you will be asked to complete online questionnaires and to use the Pebbles App developed by researchers at the University of Zurich. The app allows you to keep a diary of your child's development and gain valuable insights into developmental milestones.
