Congratulations to Stefanie Chie on successfully defending her doctoral thesis

Breast milk brain development

Stefanie Chie has successfully defended her dissertation and thus obtained her doctorate!

Stefanie works in the laboratory in Schlieren, where our team is investigating components in breast milk that can influence brain development. In her thesis, Stefanie discovered that certain fats in breast milk (so-called short-chain fatty acids, SCFAs) influence the formation and proliferation of brain cells. Specifically, she focused on oligodendrocytes, cells in the central nervous system that are important for the myelination of neurons.

We are proud of Stefanie and share her delight at this great success!

Congratulations from the whole NGN team!
