From Milk to Brain to Love

Neural synchrony nutrition

From Milk to Brain to Love is part of the LEARN project. In approximately 10% of the participants aged between 6 and 8 months, we will conduct neurological measurements using functional near-infrared spectroscopy. We are particularly interested in the phenomenon of neuronal synchrony, which describes how similar the activity of two brains is at the same time. Neuronal synchrony has been linked to closeness and attachment in adults. In this project, we aim to investigate whether this phenomenon is observable in infants and their mothers and to what extent it is related to infant feeding (e.g., breastfeeding) and maternal well-being. Additionally, we examine how the child's brain activity relates to overall child development. We are also interested in how the mother's mental health influences her brain activity.
